چکیده
A proportion of lung cancer patients develop recurrence, even after curative resection. This study reviewed the literature, focusing on the key words: recurrence, relapse, relapse-free survival, disease-free survival (DFS), surgery, and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), not overall survival (OS) to evaluate the post-operative risk factors for tumor recurrence after surgery. This article reviews the current status and progress on this subject.

Post-recurrence survival in completely resected stage I non-small cell lung cancer with local recurrence.
OBJECTIVE Resection is the best treatment for patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Patterns of disease recurrence after complete resection in stage I NSCLC have not been well demonstrated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic predictors of post-recurrence survival in patients with resected stage I NSCLC with local recurrence. METHODS The clinicopathologica...

Background: Meningiomas are common benign tumors of the brain. Meningioma patients have optimal functional recovery after surgical removal of their tumors. Some patients experience recurrence months or years after surgical resection. In this study, we try to determine the prevalence of recurrent meningioma and the correlation between recurrence and certain factors. Methods: This retrospective ...
متن کاملPrognosis of Recurrence after Complete Resection in Early-Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
BACKGROUND Tumor recurrence is the most common cause of treatment failure, even after complete resection of early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In this study, we investigated the prognosis of patients with early recurrence in order to identify independent risk factors related to early recurrence. METHODS Between February 1995 and December 2012, 242 patients who underwent surgical ...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Results of Pulmonary Resection by Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopy for the Surgical Treatment of Lung Cancer
Introduction: Lung cancer is the disease of modern era, and the rate of lung cancer mortality is three times as high as that for prostate cancer and twice as high as the rate for breast cancer. We aimed to analyze the results of pulmonary resection in patients with NSCLC by minimally invasive thoracoscopy. Materials and Methods: We studied 10 patients with NSCLC scheduled for surgical resectio...
متن کاملPrognosis of recurrent non-small cell lung cancer following complete resection
Prognosis following recurrence subsequent to complete resection of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is considered a multifactorial process dependent on clinicopathological, biological and treatment characteristics. Gefitinib was approved for lung cancer treatment in Japan in 2002. The aim of the current study was to quantify the prognostic effects of these characteristics on post-recurrence p...
